Customs officials and employees have been banned from using mobile phones to ensure uninterrupted passenger service at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
A notification signed by Dhaka Customs House Joint Commissioner Minhaj Uddin, was issued in this regard on Monday.
According to the order, the employees working in different shifts of the airport are using excessive mobile phones at different times while performing their duties.
As a result, passenger services are being disrupted at the airport and official discipline is being disturbed.
In this situation, various officials and employees working in different shifts have been asked to use official walkie-talkie instead of mobile phones as a means of inter-communication to provide uninterrupted service to the passengers.
The order also said that 270 customs officials will be transferred simultaneously, but the shift in-charge and the officer in charge of the protocol will be able to use their official mobile phones.
On the other hand, the officers and employees on duty can only contact the protocol officer and shift in-charge from the official mobile phone in case of urgent need.
Earlier, 55kg of gold had been stolen from the Customs Warehouse at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
Meanwhile, the customs house formed a five-member probe body led by a joint commissioner to investigate the incident.
A case was also filed in this regard.
Detective Police (DB) has taken over the investigation of the case.
