The Awami League and its affiliates have decided to postpone their sit-ins at entry points of the capital on Saturday.
They took the decision to obey the Dhaka Metropolitan Police's decision not to allow any party to hold sit-ins or rallies.
Party leaders said they have been peacefully standing in front of the party's central office as well as the offices in every thana and ward of Dhaka.
Riaz Uddin Riaz, office secretary of Dhaka South Awami League, said their pre-announced sit-in has been postponed out of respect for law enforcement.
“We are in the field so that the BNP cannot create anarchy. If they try to cause trouble, they will not be spared; we will not allow them to create chaos,” he said.
Leaders and activists of the Awami League and associate organizations said they will remain vigilant and on the alert in front of their ward offices to avoid any kind of chaos.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police earlier denied the BNP and Awami League permission to hold programs at all entry points of the capital on Saturday considering intelligence reports of deteriorating law and order and public suffering.
