Police, BNP activists clash near Science Lab

A BRTC bus was vandalized and set on fire

Activists of BNP and members of police locked in a clash in Dhaka's Science Lab area.

The clash took place after Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP took out a protest march in the area around 3:45pm, confirmed New Market police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shafiqul Gani.

The clash took place after the police tried to disperse the protestors.

At that time, a bus of Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) was vandalized and set on fire.

Meanwhile, due to the collision, traffic was disrupted on Mirpur Road and Satmasjid Road. The situation calmed after 5pm but the traffic is moving slowly.

In this regard, BRTC driver of Dhaka Nagar Paribahan Shamsuzzaman said: “Buses were being vandalized on Mirpur Road. So even though we are continuing the bus service from Mohammadpur to Kuril, the buses from Mohammadpur to New Market and Postgola are not yet relaxed.”

BNP activists were holding the procession in Science Lab area to press home their 10-point demand, which includes the resignation of the government, rise in commodity prices, and load shedding.
