The metro rail service from Uttara to Motijheel will be operational before December, Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) announced on Thursday.
“About 90-95% of work on the route up to Motijheel station is finished,” said DMTCL Managing Director MAN Siddique at a press conference held at Probashi Kallyan Bhaban in Dhaka.
“Our progress for the second part of the work, which is from Agargaon to Motijheel, is over 90%. Hopefully, the metro rail from Uttara to Motijheel will be launched before December,” he added.
MAN Siddique also indicated that a trial run of the train on this route is planned for July.
Siddique further stated: "Considering public demand, we have decided to start the metro rail service up to Motijheel earlier than scheduled.”
“Our target was to start the metro rail service up to Motijheel by December. However, we are exploring whether we can achieve early commissioning," he added.
