Residents of Dhaka heaved a sigh of relief after a brief spell of rain along with a squall on Tuesday evening.
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department in its evening bulletin said raid or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind was likely to occur in the next 24 hours at many places in Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions with hails at isolated places.
However, a mild heatwave was sweeping across the regions of Rajshahi, Noagaon, Moulvibazer, Jashore and Kushtia, which might continue, it added.
Sylhet recorded the highest rainfall (60mm) in the previous 24 hours, according to the met office.
The BMD also forecast that rainfall activity was likely to increase over the next five days.
