The Energy and Mineral Resources Division has advised not to be panicked over the spread of gas smell in some areas of the capital.
In a press release, Mir Mohammad Aslam Uddin, deputy chief information officer of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources came up with the information on Tuesday.
There were complaints of gas smell spreading in some areas including Rampura, Badda, Banasree, Bailey Road of Dhaka. Immediately, 14 emergency teams of Titas Gas visited all these areas on the ground and advised people not to be panicked.
At the same time, the gas pressure is reduced from all the District Regulating Stations (DRS) that supply gas to Dhaka, said the press release.
It should be noted that due to the decrease in gas consumption compared to normal times, including the closure of industries and factories during the holy Eid al-Fitr holiday, the pressure on the gas supply line increases slightly.
At present the pressure in the gas supply line is normal and the gas supply is fully under control. The public can use gas and gas stoves without any fear, the release added.
