The fire service will conduct surveys of Gausia Market in the capital's New Market area and Rajdhani Super Market in Tikatuli.
Fire Service and Civil Defence Director General Brig Gen Md Main Uddin gave the information to journalists on Wednesday.
He said they think those markets may be vulnerable to fires.
The director general said that fire service members, along with the owners of the markets, will conduct a survey and tell the market authorities about the next plan in action.
He added that they have a list of risky markets and buildings but he could not immediately say how many were in the list.
Twelve firefighting units are working till now at the Bangabazar site, he further said.
The fire broke out at Bangabazar at 6:10am on Tuesday and burnt the Bangabazar wholesale clothing market to the ground in hours.
