Police on Saturday recovered the body of a young man in Dhanmondi lake of the capital.
The victim was identified as Shahin Alam, 25, son of Siraj Patwari. He was a private car driver.
"The body was found half-floating in the lake on the west side of Dhanmondi Road No 15 on Saturday around 8:30am," Dhanmondi police station Sub-Inspector SI Md Shahidi Hasan confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy, he added.
The deceased's father, Siraj Patwari, said: "On Wednesday night, Shaheen left the house and did not return home at night. Around 11pm I found his mobile switched off."
“We did not file any complaints as we thought he was at his friend's house or at work,” he continued.
"After receiving information from the police, I went to Dhanmondi lake and identified Shaheen's body”. In response to a question he said that his son had no enmity with anyone.”
Among three brothers, one sister Shaheen was the eldest. He was the father of an eight-month-old son.
