Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery has formed an 18-member medical board to treat the burn patients from the fire that took place on the seventh floor of a residential building in Dhaka's Gulshan area Sunday night.
Director of the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, Prof Rayhana Awwal, confirmed the information to Dhaka Tribune on Monday afternoon.
The three patients admitted at the burn institute are: ACME Group and Bangladesh Cricket Board Director Fahim Sinha's wife Shama Rahman Sinha, 37, driver Musa Sikder, 33, and office staff Rawshan Ali, 30.
They were sent to the hospital Sunday night, two of them were sick from smoke inhalation, and one woman, Shama Rahman Sinha, had various injuries including burns.
Prof Rayhana said that Shama was currently doing better but she has several fractures. Her lower back was bruised after hitting the cement floor of the pool jumping from the 11th floor. She would be kept at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for up to 72 hours.
Besides, the other two people were now out of danger. Among them, Rawshan will be released on Monday. The other injured, Musa, will be kept under observation for one to two days.
One person died, and several were injured in the fire incident that took place on Sunday night.
The deceased has been identified as Anwar Hossain, a cook at the flat of BCB Director Fahim Sinha.
Fire service managed to save at least 22 people alive from the building; of them, nine were male, 12 were female, and one child.
Fire Service and Civil Defence Director General (DG) Brigadier General Md Main Uddin said a total of 19 firefighting units managed to bring the flames under control after four hours at around 11pm.
Meanwhile, the Fire Service and Civil Defence Director General (DG) Brigadier General Md Main Uddin formed the five-member investigation committee following the end of the primary rescue operation.
The head of the investigation committee is Director (Operation and Maintenance) Lt Col Mohammad Tajul Islam Chowdhury.
