DITF draws to a close with trade amount reaching 100C

This Dhaka International Trade Fair saw a 37% increase in attendance from last year, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi says

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said the trade amount at the 27th Dhaka International Trade Fair was about Tk100 crore, as the month-long affair came to a close on Tuesday. 

This year's attendance at the fair was about 3-3.5 million, a 37% increase from last year, the commerce minister said at the closing ceremony of the DITF in Purbachal of Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj.

Besides, spot export orders worth around Tk300 crore were received at the fair, he added.

Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastgir Gazi was the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the fair at Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center of the permanent fair complex in Purbachal, organized by the Ministry of Commerce and the Export Promotion Bureau.

He said that trade fairs play an important role in promoting exports. Last year exports amounted to $61 billion against a target of $51 billion.

Among the fair participants, the first prize was given to the 10 best pavilions and stalls, the second prize was given to 13 pavilions and stalls, and the third prize was given to 11 pavilions and stalls in various categories.

Besides, trophies were given to four companies in the category of Best Women Entrepreneur, three companies in Best Electronic Product Manufacturer, four in Best Furniture Manufacturer or Exporter, and two companies in Innovative Product Manufacturer or Vendor.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the 27th edition of the DITF on January 1.
