The police recovered the body of a female journalist from her residence in Dhaka's Hatirjheel area on Tuesday night.
The deceased, Sharmin Shabnam, worked at the online news portal The Report.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Hatirjheel police station Abdur Rashid confirmed the matter.
OC Abdur Rashid said: “It is initially believed that she committed suicide. Inspector Mejbah of Hatirjheel police station is investigating the matter. The cause of her death will be confirmed later.”
The dead body has been kept in the Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital morgue for autopsy, the OC said.
Sharmin's husband, Saidul Islam, works as a reporter at Asian TV.
