Dhaka roads return to normal after BNP rally

There were also gridlocks as usual

Traffic movement has returned to normal levels in Dhaka after there being only a few vehicles plying the capital's streets due to the BNP's rally on Saturday.

The roads of the capital were teeming with pedestrians, commuters and public transport from Sunday morning.

Apart from privately owned buses, Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) buses were also on the roads. 

There was also an increased presence of traffic police.

The morning also saw gridlocks due to the presence of school- and office-bound buses and cars. 

Deputy Commissioner (Traffic) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Lalbagh Division told Bangla Tribune there had been fewer vehicles on the city roads due to mounting political tension. “Traffic movement has been normal since this morning,” he said.
