Police surveillance has been increased ahead of BNP's Dhaka rally to be held at Golapbagh ground in Sayedabad area on Saturday.
Law enforcers will take action if anyone tries to create sabotage around BNP's rally on Saturday, reports Bangla Tribune.
Surveillance has been beefed up, deploying plainclothes police in different spots. Besides, the cyber world has also been brought under surveillance. Police are also alert so that BNP leaders and activists could not carry out any sabotage.
Members of law enforcement will assist the BNP if they hold the rally in a peaceful way. But if there is any untoward situation like the one that provoked police Naya Paltan last Tuesday, they (BNP) would not be spared.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Joint Commissioner (Operations) Biplab Kumar Sarkar said: “We are not rivals, BNP will organize a rally, and we will provide protection for that rally. If anyone tries to take a chance to carry out any type of sabotage centering the rally, they will be brought under the law.”
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has allowed the opposition BNP to hold a rally on the Golapbagh ground in the Sayedabad area of Dhaka from 12 noon to 4:30 pm on Saturday.
DMP granted the permission on Friday after the party submitted an application.
According to the letter signed by Special Assistant to DMP Commissioner Md Tanveer Salehin Emon, 26 conditions have been set for the rally.
The conditions include- Permission must be obtained from the concerned authority for use of permitted place, all activities of the rally should be restricted inside venue, adequate number of volunteers (with visible ID cards) should be recruited for management, installing closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras at the venue, installing metal detectors for checking the delegates and following Covid safety guidelines while holding the rally, all the vehicles coming to the gathering should be searched, micro-phone, loudspeakers cannot be set up outside of the venue, projectors cannot be placed outside the rally ground, and more.
Meanwhile, BNP activists have started converging on the Golapbagh ground in the Sayedabad area after getting permission from the police to hold the party's mass rally.
Earlier, Awami League (AL) General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Friday said that BNP has tasted half-defeat in its movement when party leaders agreed to hold public rally on Golapbagh field in the city, reports BSS.
