A Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC) examinee has been stabbed to death by a group of miscreants over previous enmity in Dhaka's Merul Badda area.
The deceased was identified as Ashfakur Rahman Chowdhury Satil, 19, a student of BN School and College.
The incident took place in Merul Badda DIT Project Road No 13 at 8pm on Sunday.
Two friends of Satil were injured at this time as well. They are receiving treatment at DMCH.
The injured are two polytechnic students named Sowaib, 18, and Rupam Dutta, 19.
One of the Injured Rupam Dutta said: “Around three days ago, I had an argument with a young man named Rocky over calling my name. Later, Rocky held a knife to my throat and threatened me. Satil was there as well at the time.
“At around 8pm tonight, Rocky and a few others came to Road No 13 and started assaulting me. Seeing that, Satil came forward to rescue me and got stabbed. At that time, they also stabbed me in the back and Sowaib in the chest as well.”
Sayem Shikder and Sadhin, friends of the deceased, said that they saw Satil lying on road number 13 in a critical condition.
Satil was first taken to the local Asia Hospital first and then moved to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) at 9:30pm where the duty doctor declared him dead.
DMCH police outpost In-Charge Inspector Bachchu Miah said the body has been kept in the hospital morgue for autopsy.
