Police have arrested two members of “Genjam Party” including a private university student in the capital.
They were arrested from Road No 13 of Sector No 13 of Uttara on Tuesday night.
Uttara West police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Mohsin confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Wednesday.
The arrestees are- Al Raju, 25, a student of a private university in Dhaka, and his associate Suman Khan, 29.
OC Md Mohsin reported that Lutfar Rahman was operating a private vehicle along Uttara's Road 13 at around 11:30pm.
At that point, the accuser Raju approached the moving car and began blaming Lutfar for hitting his vehicle. At that point, Suman Khan and Raju started beating up the victim.
Lutfar started shouting when they attempted to steal his valuables.
Meahile, a police patrol squad arrived at the scene at that time and detained the duo.
OC Md Mohsin said that the group has been committing these crimes in many parts of Dhaka, including Uttara, for a long time.
They had previously served jail time on the same offenses in two instances, he added.
