The vaccination of children aged 5-11 would begin in Dhaka on Thursday.
Earlier on August 11, Health Minister Zahid Maleque inaugurated the trial run for the Covid-19 vaccine for children aged 5-11.
The vaccination will begin on Thursday morning in 28 centres of the two city corporation areas of Dhaka.
According to District Primary Education Office sources, vaccination will take place in 13 centres in Dhaka South City Corporation and 15 centres in Dhaka North City Corporation.
The DNCC centres include Azampur Government Primary School, Uttara Girls’ High School, Kurmitola Government Primary School, Faidabad Government Primary School, Kishalaya Vidya Niketan, Pallabi Government Primary School, Senpara Parbata Government Primary School, Haji Yousuf Ali Government Primary School, Amtali Staff Welfare Government Primary School, Mohakhali Abdul Hamid Dorzi Government Primary School, Dakshin Khan Government Primary School, Dumni Government Primary School, Satarkul Government Primary School, Bangabandhu Government Primary School, and Bottomley Home Girl's High School.
The DSCC centres include Dhanmondi-1 Government Primary School, Fakirer Pool Government Primary School, Hazaribagh Balok Government Primary School, Hazaribagh Balika Government Primary School, Mahuttuli Renaissance Government Primary School, Wari Girls' Government Primary School, Khilgaon Model Government Primary School, Nilkhet Government Primary School, Bangabhaban Government Primary School, Azimpur Model Government Primary School, Suritola Model Government Primary School, Karaitola Government Primary School, and Motijheel Government Primary School.
Health Minister Zahid Maleque had said that about 25 million children will be brought under vaccination.
A total of 1,502,400 doses of the first batch of Pfizer vaccine, which is specially formulated for children between the ages of five and 11, arrived in Dhaka on July 30.
