Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Khandaker Golam Faruq said that there will be maximum security in Dhaka during Eid.

He said this in a media briefing after visiting Mohakhali Bus Terminal Tuesday afternoon.

The DMP chief said: “No major accidents occurred last Eid. Our patrol police will be there round the clock. There will be CCTV cameras. DB police will monitor the city.”

Addressing those who were leaving Dhaka, the DMP commissioner said that police will give maximum security. “However, those who are going home, leave your belongings, gold or cash in safe custody.”

He further said: “We are launching a special operation against criminals including thieves, malam parties and ignorant people. So far, 600 criminals have been arrested.”

He also highlighted the positive condition of the roads, adding that police would take action against any untoward situation.

The DMP commissioner has also warned the youth not to race motorcycles or cars in empty Dhaka.

Pointing out that many young people race motorcycles or private cars in Dhaka, he said Barricades will be provided to prevent racing on empty roads during Eid-ul-Azha vacation.
