A case has been filed over the murder of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) student Fardin Noor Parash, who was found dead in Narayanganj on Monday, three days after going missing.

Fardin's father Nur Uddin Rana filed the case with Rampura police station against Fardin's friend named Bushra and some unidentified person early Thursday.

Following the filing of the case, police arrested Bushra from Dhaka's Banasree area in this connection. Bushra is a 3rd-year student of East West University.

Police conducted a drive at Bushra's house and arrested her in the morning, Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Rampura Police Station, said.

The body of Fardin, a third-year student of the civil engineering department of Buet, was recovered from Shitalakkhya at Banani Ghat under Siddhirganj police station around 6:30pm on Monday.

Before disappearing on the night of November 4 last, he dropped off one of his female friends to go home in Rampura area.

Earlier, Fardin's father Nuruddin Rana claimed that his son was murdered and demanded justice.

"When he set out for the campus from home on Friday, he took his mobile, watch, and money bag. But we found nothing of those with the body," said the father.

On Tuesday, Sheikh Farhad, a physician at Narayanganj General Hospital where the autopsy was done, said there were several injury marks on Fardin's head and body.

Police earlier detained two friends of Fardin for interrogation, Maniruzzaman Moni, officer-in-charge of Narayanganj River Police, said on Tuesday.
