A 24-year-old youth committed suicide by jumping into Hatirjheel lake after an altercation with his girlfriend, police and family sources said.
The deceased was identified as Bozlu Miraj Chowdhury alias Raj, son of late B Zaman Chowdhury, hailing from Dhaka.
Quoting the deceased's mother Sheikh Nadira Begum, Sub Inspector (SI) Md Karibel Hasan said the man jumped into the water from Hatirjheel Bridge on Friday around midnight and drowned.
Later police recovered the body and sent it to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
