A man died after reportedly being pushed off a moving bus by its conductor in Dhaka’s Wari neighbourhood yesterday.
The victim, 48-year-old Md Irfan Ahmed, was an electrician by profession who worked in a shop in the Nawabpur area.
Irfan was pushed off a bus of “Green Bangla Paribahan” near the Joy Kali Temple intersection at around 10am, leaving him critically injured, according to his younger brother Md Rayhan.
He was first taken to the local Salauddin Specialized Hospital and then to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where the doctors pronounced him dead at around 11:45am, said Rayhan.
Sub-Inspector Arafat Hossain of Wari police said Irfan’s body was later taken to the DMCH morgue for an autopsy.
“We have come to know that the conductor might have pushed him off the bus. However, there were no wounds on his body, only a bruise below his left eye,” he added.
