A 34-year-old woman and her daughter were found dead in a house in Nayagaon’s No-3 Ghat area in Dhaka on Saturday, police and hospital sources said.
“Police recovered the bodies from the spot ... A rope was found near their bodies, and the bodies bore injury marks on their necks,” Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kamrangirchar police station Mostafizur Rahman told BSS.
The OC said they are investigating the matter. Preliminary investigation, however, revealed that there were some family disputes over financial crises, he added.
Hospital sources said the deceased were identified as Phulbanshi Das, 34, and her Sumi Das, 11. Hailing from Comilla, they used to reside in a rented house in Kamrangirchar area for 10 years.
The woman's husband, Mukunda Chandra Das, and another daughter, Jhuma Das, are being questioned in this connection.
The bodies were sent to Dhaka Medical College (DMC) morgue for autopsy.
The OC said Phulbanshi's husband, Mukunda, works as a part-time day labour and they all live in a one-room house.
A case was filed with the concerned police station in this connection.
