The Met Office has issued a warning that landslides may occur at places over the hilly areas in Chittagong Division due to very heavy rainfall.
As the monsoon is very active, places over Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, and Chittagong divisions are likely to experience heavy to very heavy precipitation, Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Friday said in a bulletin for the next 24 hours commencing at 4pm.
BMD measures heavy rainfall between 44mm and 88mm while very heavy showers from 89mm.
Signboards and banners have been installed to mark the risky hill areas of Rangamati district | Dhaka TribuneIn another 24-hour forecast commencing from 9am Saturday, the Met Office said light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, and Chittagong divisions and at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country.
Alongside many other areas of the country, Dhaka city has been experiencing rainfall since Friday night. Light rain was continuing until 3:30pm Saturday.
The axis of the monsoon trough runs through Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across the central part of Bangladesh, it said.
One of its associated troughs extends up to North Bay. Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay.
Day and night temperatures may fall slightly over the country.

BMD on Saturday issued another warning for the river ports and asked them to hoist cautionary signal number one.
The warning, which would remain valid till 6pm, said in association with rain or thundershowers, temporary south or south-easterly gusty wind at a speed of 45-60kph is likely to occur over the regions of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Bogra, Pabna, Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Jessore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, and Sylhet wherein river ports will hoist the cautionary signal.
Meanwhile, the maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to lower local cautionary signal number three.
