Agitated office-goers and commuters have staged a demonstration at Dhaka’s Khilkhet bus stop area after failing to find buses following fresh health guidelines issued by the government on public transports.
The commuters blocked the road and started their protests at around 9am on Thursday morning.
The office-goers protested and blocked the road for an hour. Later, traffic on the road resumed at around 10am, Khilkhet Police Station Officer-in-Charge Munshi Sabbir Hossain said while confirming the incident.

Since morning, scores of people were seen standing on road and bus stops across the city waiting for their turn to board a bus. However, most failed to board a bus and arrive at their workplaces on time.
Earlier on Tuesday, the government issued a circular instructing public transports not carry passengers more than 50% of their seating capacity while hiking fares by 60%.
The Road, Transport and Bridges Ministry issued the orders with effect from Wednesday for the next 14 days.
