A woman and three of her children were found dead in their Kaliartek flat at Kamarpara, under Turag police station in Dhaka, on Thursday night.
The deceased are local resident Mostofa Kamal's wife Rehana Parvin,40, and the couple’s daughters Shanta, 13, Shefa,8, and eight-month-old son Saad.
Mahbub-e- Khoda, officer-in-charge (OC) of the police station, confirmed the incident to the Bangla Tribune.
Mostafa, who is involved in a cooperative scheme in the area, claimed to have known nothing in this regard as he was not in the flat when the incident took place.
“Mostofa went out at 7pm. After returning home around 12am, he found his children lying unconscious on a bed and the body of his wife Rehana hanging from a ceiling fan inside a room of their flat. As he started screaming after finding them dead, locals rushed in and informed the police,” the OC said.
Police are yet to ascertain whether or not they were murdered. The bodies were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
