The Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) of Bangladesh Police has arrested three people for their alleged involvement in online money extortion, and selling drugs and sexual stimulants.

Md Fahim, 22, and his associates Altaf Mridha, 23, and Helal Uddin, 49, were arrested from different areas, including Dhaka, on Sunday night.

ATU recovered 5,040 yaba pills, Tk1,62,500, two mobile phones, 5kg of various sexual stimulant gels, among others, from their possession.

Confirming the matter, Mahiduzzaman, superintendent of police of ATU, said two cases have been filed against the three with the Gulshan police station under the Digital Security Act and the Special Powers Act.

He also mentioned that Fahim was the leader of the gang.

“Fahim created a Facebook page called Online Service. Through this page, he used to cheat people and extort money from them, and sold various drugs and imported sexual stimulants,” he added.

In the primary interrogation, it was found that Fahim used to collect yaba pills, sexual stimulants, and other narcotics from Altaf Mridha and Helal Uddin before selling them online, the police official said.

The three arrested have admitted to their involvement in the crimes, he further added.
