Aviation Security (AVSEC) officials at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport seized 4,000 yaba pills hidden inside a parcel booked for export to Paris, France.
The seizure occurred on Wednesday morning during a routine security check at Hangar Gate-8, where the pills were identified by AVSEC personnel.
Muhammad Kausar Mahmud, assistant director (Public Relations) of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), confirmed the recovery and said the pills were concealed within goods sent through the postal service for export.
Authorities credited the success to the screeners’ alertness, responsibility, and thorough inspection, which prevented the smuggling attempt. CAAB officials said the incident further strengthens the airport’s overall security measures.
The Department of Narcotics Control was immediately notified, and legal proceedings are underway against those responsible.
