A total of 276 Bangladeshi nationals have left Dhaka for Italy on a special flight amid flight restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The special flight, arranged by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) for Rome around 12:00pm on Thursday.
Tahera Khondoker, deputy general manager (public relations) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
Earlier on June 27, 281 Bangladeshi nationals left Dhaka for Italy under similar arrangements.
“All Bangladeshis residing in Italy have now been sent back there and they will soon join their respective jobs,” the Biman spokesperson said.
So far, a total of 1,372 Bangladeshi nationals have left Dhaka for Italy on special flights between June 12 and July 2.
Some of them were left stranded in Bangladesh due to the coronavirus pandemic and some were sent back home to Bangladesh in March, when Italy recorded the highest number of coronavirus cases in Europe.
Some of these Bangladeshi nationals, living in Italy, came back to Bangladesh at the onset of the pandemic. Some others were sent back home in March when Italy recorded the highest number of coronavirus cases in Europe.
