A total of 50 Bangladeshi and Chinese citizens have arrived in Dhaka on a US Bangla flight amidst travel restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Bangladeshi nationals who were stranded in China, and the Chinese who are involved with the Padma Bridge project, returned on the routine BS-326 flight of US-Bangla Airlines.
The flight from Gwangzhou landed at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 8:05am on Sunday, said an official of Aviation Security.
Speaking to the Dhaka Tribune, an airport health official said all returnees underwent thermal scanning at the airport.
“After a proper checking, all returnees were sent from the airport to home quarantine,” said the official.
Kamrul Islam, general manager (public relations) of US-Bangla Airlines, said the passengers returned from China on a scheduled US-Bangla flight. This is an exception since passengers have usually returned through specially arranged chartered flights amidst the pandemic.
The US-Bangla flight leaves Dhaka for Guangzhou every Saturday and Guangzhou for Dhaka every Sunday, operating on a fixed schedule, he added.
