A total of 453 Bangladesh citizens have returned home on special flights amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

In addition, 204 Russian nationals also arrived in Dhaka on a special flight.

The Bangladeshi nationals, stranded in Oman and the UAE for over two months due to the Covid-19 lockdown, returned home on two separate flights of Oman Airways and Emirates on Thursday.

Of them, 273 Bangladeshis returned from the UAE, and 180 from Oman.

The special flight of Oman Air landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka at around 6:40pm, security officials said.

Earlier in the day, a special flight of Emirates landed in Dhaka airport at around 5:20pm.

Speaking to Dhaka Tribune, an airport health official said all returnees had undergone thermal scanning at the airport.

“After a proper checking, all were sent from the airport to mandatory home quarantine,” the official added.

Meanwhile, a special chartered flight carrying 204 Russian nationals arrived in Dhaka at around 8am on Thursday.

They work at the Russian Embassy in Dhaka and elsewhere in the country.
