A construction worker has died from electrocution in Dhaka’s Jurain area.
He was reportedly electrocuted while cutting rods with the help of an electric machine in a building under construction.
The deceased was identified as Rubel Mridha, 28.
The accident occurred at around 9:30am on Thursday in Dhaka's West Jurain Bazar area.
Rubel was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in an unconscious state. The on-duty doctor declared him dead at 11:15 am.
DMCH police outpost camp assistant in-charge Abdul Khan confirmed the matter and said that he informed the matter to the concerned police station.
A co-worker of the deceased said that Rubel was working with iron rods in a five-storied building at the Bazer goli of the graveyard road in West Jurain area. He was electrocuted while cutting an iron rod with the machine.
Rahima Akhter, wife of the deceased, said Rubel hails from the Ranisat village of Gosairhat upazila in Shariatpur. His father's name is Ramzan Ali. He lived with his only daughter and wife in a tin shed house on the west Jurain graveyard road.
Rubel left home for work around 8:15am in the morning. Around 9:30am his colleagues informed his family about the accident by phone. She immediately went to the hospital and saw her husband dead, she added.
