At least 227 Japanese citizens have left Dhaka for Tokyo by a special chartered flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines in view of the Covid-19, a new strain of coronavirus, pandemic.
The chartered flight departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 10.16am on Thursday.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines Managing Director Md Mokabbir Hossain confirmed the matter.
Governments across the world have been arranging chartered flights to take back their nationals from different countries as regular air connectivity is almost suspended around the globe due to the outbreak of the killer virus.
Bangladesh government has so far reported 6 deaths and 56 infected by Covid-19.
The fast spreading coronavirus, which was first reported in China's Wuhan, has infected more than 936,100 people and claimed above 47,200 lives across 203 countries and territories and two international conveyances, according to Worldometer.
Globally, a total of 194,578 infected people have also recovered from Covid-19, a pandemic announced by the World Health Organization (WHO).
