To ensure that the fight against Covid-19, a new strain of coronavirus, is uninterrupted, Gonoshasthaya Kendra were given a grant worth Tk5 lakh.
Md Safiuddin, on behalf of Gono Kallyan Trust, handed over the cheque to Trustee Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury, one of the main founders of Gonoshasthaya Kendra at Gonoshasthaya Nagar Bhaban in Dhaka on Wednesday.
The health scientists of the country are continuously conducting research on how to prevent the infection of coronavirus in the wake of this unprecedented global crisis.
Gonoshasthaya Kendra, under the leadership and expertise of Dr Zafrullah, have been able to make coronavirus testing kits successfully.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has welcomed this effort and gave her approval for making the testing kits.
However, a massive amount of money is needed to make testing kits on a large scale.
In this situation, Gonoshasthaya Kendra is urging local and foreign industrialists, businessmen, and the general people to provide financial help for the betterment of the people.
In Bangladesh, 48 people have tested positive for coronavirus, and there have been five recorded deaths from coronavirus infection so far.
Globally, the fast-spreading Covid-19 has claimed more than 27,400 lives and infected over 602,000 people, according to Worldometer.
