United Kingdom High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Robert Chatterton Dickson, put emphasis on the importance of freedom of media in a democracy.
Exchanging views with senior journalists during a visit to the offices of Dhaka Tribune yesterday, he described the country’s media as vibrant and praised the role they play in different aspects of people’s lives.
Welcoming the British envoy, Dhaka Tribune Editor Zafar Sobhan briefed him about the activities of the newspaper.
The Editor and the High Commissioner agreed on possible cooperation between Dhaka Tribune and the UK High Commission on matters of importance for the people.
Following the exchange that covered many contemporary issues, Dickson visited different sections of Dhaka Tribune and interacted with journalists.
