It could not be determined immediately what was stolen

Update : 17 Jan 2020, 11:26 PM

A mysterious theft has taken place at the Registration Complex in Dhaka's Tejgaon area.

Police and official concerned suspected that the incident took place between Wednesday evening and early Thursday.

Sub-registrar Monir Hossain of Badda Zone filed a case with Tejgaon industrial police station on Thursday night in this regard.

He, however, did not mention in the first information report (FIR) what was stolen.

Tejgaon industrial police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ali Hossain Khan said: "We are investigating the case with very importance. No arrests were made or documents recovered so far."

Police suspected that thieves entered into the registry office from behind the complex after smashing the lock off the collapsible gate.

"We found the CCTV (closed-circuit television) camera of the building facing a different direction, but the thieves stole the DVR (digital video recorder) along with the computer's hard drive. All the records or documents were scattered around the office," he said.

Responding to a question if any registry book (Balam) was stolen, he said: "We cannot say this right now. We are looking into the matter."

Individuals related with land registry seeking anonymity suspected that the land grabber gang might have been involved in the incident.

In addition, staffs of the registration complex might have involved, otherwise, the theft could not be taken place, they said.
