Inspector General of Police (IGP) Javed Patwary has requested the prosecution team to file an appeal against the acquittal of the other accused in Holey Artisan attack case.
The IGP said: “We are satisfied that seven of the accused we charged after investigation have got the highest penalty.”
"We will request the prosecution team to file an appeal against the acquittal of the other accused."
He made the statement in a program at the Police Headquarters on Wednesday.
Dhaka’s Anti-Terrorism Special Tribunal gave death penalty to seven and acquitted another accused named Mizanur Rahman alias Baro Mizan in Holey Artisan attack case on Wednesday.

The court also fines the convicts Tk50,000.
The trial began on November 26, 2018, after charges were framed against eight militants
Three years ago in 2016, the Holey Artisan Bakery and Café was stormed by five men.
During the attack on July 1, 23 people-- including 17 foreigners—was brutally killed by these militants.
Five attackers – Nibras Islam, Rohan Imtiaz, Meer Saameh Mubasser, Khairul Islam and Shafiqul Islam – were all killed in the Operation Thunderbolt that the Para Commando Battalion launched at the bakery on the morning of July 2.
