Dhaka Residential Model College (DRMC) students and its alumni demanded justice for Nayeemul Abrar at a human chain formed in front of their school campus on Wednesday.
The human chain, organized by Old Ramian Welfare Association (ORWA) was formed at noon in front of DMRC on Wednesday to demand justice for Nayeemul Abrar.
DRMC principal, Brigadier General Kazi Shameem Farhad said: “Whoever is responsible for Abrar’s death should be identified and brought to justice,” he told the media at a protest rally.
Nayeemul Abrar, a ninth-grade non-residential student of DRMC, was electrocuted by the live wires of a power generator during a program organized by Kishor Alo, a supplement of Prothom Alo for young readers, on the school premises on Friday.

The protestors later took the demonstration inside the school campus. The principal also said if Abrar’s family needs any support to conprtinue the case they filed, DRMC will be with them till the time they end up getting justice
When asked about the finding about the case, Brigadier General Kazi Shameem Farhad said he is not able to comment as probe committee is still looking into the matter.
On Sunday, Supreme Court served a legal notice to the national daily Prothom Alo, seeking Tk10 crore as compensation in this regard.
Moshiur Rahman, general secretary of Old Remians Welfare Association ( ORWA), said they demand stern punishment of the people who are behind Abrar’s death.
Tahmid Jung, general secretary of ORWA, told Dhaka Tribune the school playground should be only for the school kids to play.
We do not want any more commercial use for our school playground, he added.
Requesting anonymity, an 11th grader of DRMC, who also attended the event, told Dhaka Tribune, the program ended at around 4:45pm and Abrar was electrocuted around 3:30pm.
