National daily Prothom Alo has been served a legal notice seeking Tk10 crore in compensation over the death of Dhaka Residential Model College (DRMC) student Nayeemul Abrar.

Supreme Court lawyer Faizullah Foyez sent the notice on Sunday to the editor, and publisher of the daily, the editor of Kishor Alo, and secretaries to the Ministry of Information, Ministry of Education, and Ministry of Energy.

The notice asked the two editors to pay the compensation to the victim's family, or risk facing legal action for their negligence in relation to the incident.

The compensators have also been directed to provide an explanation regarding the incident within three days of receiving the notice.

Nayeemul Abrar, a ninth-grade non-residential student of DRMC, was electrocuted by a power generator during a program organized by Kishor Alo, a supplement of Prothom Alo for young readers, on the school premises on Friday.
