Update : 20 Oct 2019, 07:12 PM

A Jatiya Oikya Front delegation, led by its convener Dr Kamal Hossain, has expressed intent in meeting BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia at Bangabandhu Sheik Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).

The decision was taken at the Oikya Front’s steering committee meeting at Dr Kamal Hossain’s Motijheel chamber on Sunday, reports UNB.

Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) president, also a leader of the Jatiya Okiya Front, ASM Abdur Rob told reporters: "The three-time former premier Khaleda Zia has been in jail and the nation is worried (over her health condition). We have decided to meet to see her condition.

“She has a paralyzed hand, and is unable to eat.”

Oikya Front Office Secretary Jahangir Alam Mintoo said they are likely to send an application to the home minister either on Sunday or on Monday seeking permission to meet Khaleda Zia.

Khaleda has been in jail since she was convicted in the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case in February 8, 2018. She was found guilty in another corruption case later the same year, though her party claims both the cases are "politically motivated."

She has been receiving treatment at the BSMMU since April 1 last.
