'We are ready to inaugurate the centre on coming Monday'

Update : 14 Oct 2019, 10:59 PM

Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) is set to launch One Stop Service (OSS) Centre on October 21 to provide all necessary services for investors from a single window.

“We are ready to inaugurate the centre on coming Monday,” said BEZA Executive Chairman Paban Chowdhury, expressing hope that the centre would provide faster services to the investors.

He came up with the announcement while addressing the Mongla Economic Zone’s land allocation certificates handing over program on Monday at a hotel in the capital.

“We submitted a draft act on one stop service in 2015 and finally the government enacted the ‘One Stop Service Act’ last year,” Paban said.

The potential investors would get approvals for various utility services like power, gas, water and telephone from the proposed centre, he added.

The centre would bring down significantly the time in getting utility services, the BEZA chief said, elaborating that an investor would get power connection in a day while the trade license in a moment.

He hoped that Bangladesh would enter into a new era with the introduction of the OSS and made a positive change in the ‘Ease of Doing Business’ index of the World Bank.
