A man died in the capital’s Karwan Bazar area after both of his legs were severed under a train.
The incident took place in the afternoon on Tuesday.
Mukhtar Hossain Kachchu, 35, a small trader, was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) by bystanders, where the duty doctor pronounced him dead around 6:20pm on Tuesday.
Kamlapur Railway police station Sub-Inspector Roshi Banik confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
DMCH Police Outpost In-Charge, Bachchi Miah, said the dead body was in the hospital’s mortuary.
Qari Ariful and Nazmul Hossain who took Mukhtar to the hospital, said the deceased was stuck between two moving trains and lost his legs.
His roommate Abdur Rahman identified the body. He said Mukhtar was a roadside clothes trader in the city’s New Market area and lived in a mess in Ayub Ali Colony in the New Market area.
Mukhtar was the son of Late Suruj Mandal from Mithapukur upazila’s Khorddo village in Rangpur.
