Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon said all kinds of preparations have been made for Eid congregation.
He said the main congregation of devotees will be held at the National Eidgah in Dhaka at 8:30am.
The mayor made the remarks to journalists, while inspecting preparations at the National Eidgah, on Sunday morning.
He said: “If any kind of emergency situation arises on the day of Eid, then the main congregation will be held in Baitul Mukarram national mosque at 9am.”
“The grounds can accommodate over 100,000 people, including 5,000 women, for Eid prayers,” he said.
The mayor added: “Law enforcement organizations have taken on security management at the Eidgah. CCTV cameras have also been installed.”
“Two control rooms have also been set up for any type of emergency service,” he added.
Mostafizur Rahman, chief executive officer of DSCC, accompanied the mayor on the visit, among others.
According to the engineering department of DSCC, the National Eidgah has 25,402.13sqkm of rain-protective tarpaulin. The city corporation has also arranged mobile toilets and 140 ablution points for people taking part in Eid prayers.
