SMHI Faruque, landowner of Banani’s FR Tower, has been arrested over the death of 26 people in a massive fire in his building on March 28.
Police arrested 65-year-old Faruk from Bashundhara residential area around 1:45am on Sunday.

Detective Branch (DB) of Police Deputy Commissioner (North division) Moshiur Rahman confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune.
Earlier on Saturday night, Banani police outpost Sub-Inspector (SI) Milton Datta filed a case accusing Rupayan Group Chairman Liakat Ali Khan, BNP leader Tasvir Ul Islam and SMHI Faruque over the deaths in the fire.

The DB also arrested BNP leader Tasvir Ul Islam – one of the owners of the illegally occupied floors in FR Tower – from his home in Baridhara around 10:45pm on Saturday.
