BUPCF spreading the spirit of cultural practices

Nine universities participated in the festival

The fifth season of BUP Inter-University Cultural Fest, organized and hosted by BUP Cultural Forum started on November 2. 

Different universities across the country were invited to showcase their talents—and were ranked accordingly. 

This provided an opportunity for the students to learn, practice, and enjoy different aspects of Bangladesh’s culture and history.

The gold sponsors for this year's fest are Trust Bank, grooming partner Oxy, radio partner Radio Next, and print media partner the Dhaka Tribune. 

The adjudication panel was graced with the presence of: the founder of Turongomi repertory dance theatre Pooja Sengupta, renowned actor Anisur Rahman Milon, leader of the popular band Shironamhin Ziaur Rahman Zia and distinguished drummer Nafeez Al Amin. 

Nine universities participated in the festival. The first day saw students showcase their creativity and skills within a 20-minute time limit in the fields of: drama, dance, music and creative writing. 

Notable performances included one by: Dhaka University, which commendably showed the culture of Bangladesh –; East West University, which portrayed an incredible mix of classic and contemporary arts; Notre Dame University Bangladesh, which shed light on some important national historical issues; and Bangladesh University of Professionals, which garnered high praise from the judges for their performance on utopia and reality. 

The second part, on Sunday, included a concert. BUP’s three in-house bands – Bhrom, Rewind and Shomikoron began – along with famous Bangladeshi band Indalo, performed at the event.

The prize-giving ceremony was held on Tuesday. 

The Vice Chancellor of BUP, Major General Md Emdad-Ul-Bari, NDC, PSC, TE was the chief guest at the program. 

The four winning teams then performed again in front of the  guests. 

The winners were then announced and given the trophies by the chief guest. 

The champion for the 5th season of the Inter-University Cultural Fest, organized by BUP Cultural Forum, was East West University.

The 2nd runner-up was Dhaka University. The title for the first runner up was tied between Notre Dame University Bangladesh and the host university.

Special awards were given to Souman Guha of BUP and Sadik Haque of NDUB for their amazing directing skills. The program ended with an inspiring speech by the chief guest.
