PM: No plan to close down Old Airport

She assured that no one will be able to take away the airport from the Air Force as long as she remains in power

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has ruled out any possibility of closing down the Old Airport, saying that it belongs to the Air Force and must remain under the force’s possession.

The prime minister made the statement while inaugurating the newly constructed VVIP Complex of the Tejgaon Airport on Saturday, report UNB.

"This airport will never be closed down; this belongs to the Air Force and it must remain under them," she said.

She, however, asked the Air Force to remain vigilant so as to not let other interested parties not grab the area.

The prime minister assured that no one will be able to take away the airport from the Air Force as long as she remains in power.

She asked all to refrain from thinking of constructing high rise buildings around the first airport of Bangladesh.

"I want to warn you many people have their greedy eyes on it; the Air Force should use it in a way it cannot be grabbed by others," she said.
