The PET-CT scanner is used to acquire sequential images through a whole body scan, usually made from mid-thighs to the top of the head, to mark cancer cell growth locations for image-guided radiation therapy.
The keynote speakers were Professor Henry Hee-Seung Bom, chairman, Asian Regional Cooperative Council for Nuclear Medicine and Professor Hiroshi Matsuda, director general, Integrative Brain Imaging Center, National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry, Tokyo, Japan.
Two papers on PET-CT were presented. Professor Hee-Seung presented a paper titled “PET/CT in Medical Management” and discussed the management of different types of cancers, such as lung and colorectal.
Professor Matsuda spoke on applications of PET-CT in Neurology and Psychiatry. He stressed the importance of PET to diagnose different diseases, particularly Alzheimer’s disease.
The CME was attended by senior officials of the Society of Nuclear Medicine Bangladesh and several senior physicians of the National Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences attended the CME.
