Customs officials have recovered 10 gold bars weighing around 5.49kg from a flight at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
They also detained a man from the OD 162 flight, coming from Malaysia, around 1am on Sunday.
The Chinese-born Malaysian man, Looi Koon Hong, 33, was detained while crossing the passenger's green channel. The gold bars were rescued from his shoes, a press release read.
Dr Md Shahidul Islam, director general of Customs Intelligence & Investigation Directorate, said the estimated price of the gold is around Tk2.74 crore.
