Citing a spokesperson of Prime Minister’s Officer, BSS reported that the prime minister was scheduled to join the "E-9 Ministerial Meeting on Education" at Hotel Raddison Blu in the capital at 10am Sunday. But the timing coincided with the starting hour of the ongoing SSC examinations.
"Honourable prime minister has deferred the function by 30 minutes for the convenience of the SSC examinees," PM's Deputy Press Secretary Ashraful Alam Khokan said.
He said the function would now begin at 10:30am.
The PM’s deputy press secretary said the prime minister has already directed her personal staff to re-fix the timing of other programmes that will be held on the examination days.
The three-day E-9 Ministerial Meeting on Education is set to kick off in the capital on Sunday with the theme "Education for the 21st century" in E-9 countries.
The E-9 member countries are Bangladesh, Brazil, China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Nigeria and Pakistan.
Representatives of the countries are taking part in the meeting to discuss their experiences in education, exchange best practices and monitor progress on achieving Education for All (EFA).
