Corruption amounting to Tk29,230 crore to Tk50,835 crore has taken place in the construction of development projects under the Directorate of Roads and Highways over the past 14 years, during the tenure of the Awami League government.
A Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) study revealed the findings which were presented at TIB’s Dhanmondi office on Wednesday.
A discussion titled "Challenges of Good Governance in the Implementation of Road and Highway Development Projects" revealed the information.
TIB's research focused on development projects implemented by the Roads and Highways Department under the Annual Development Program (ADP).
The study specifically analyzed projects worth below Tk1,000 crore, with an emphasis on domestically funded initiatives.
