The arrest was made on Wednesday morning. Police claims arrested Rhidoy, 26, hailing from Comilla district, to be mentally challenged.
Locals said Rhidoy tactfully entered Lakshmi Narayan Temple of one Uttam Boiragi in the village and vandalised three idols.
However, locals managed to caught him while he was fleeing the scene and handed him over to local police
Saturia police station OC Habibullah Sarkar termed the Rhidoy's statement on his action imbalanced, saying: “We have been looking into the matter seriously.”
Some witnesses alleged that there were two more boys with Rhidoy, who escaped promptly after the incident.
