5 policemen injured in petrol bomb attack

Five members of police have been injured as miscreants hurled petrol bombs and crude bombs at a police vehicle near Matsya Bhaban in the capital.

Injured Sub-Inspector Azad, 40, constable Shamim, 28, Shipon, 27, Morshed, 42, and Bodiar, 25, have been admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Of them, constable Morshed, who was driving the van sustained burn injuries.

"Among the injured, the condition of constable Shamim is critical," Niaz Morshed, residential surgeon of DMCH emergency unit told the Dhaka Tribune.

DMCH police outpost In-Charge Mozammel Hoque said a police van was picking up the policemen who discharged blockade duties in different points of the capital.

"Miscreants hurled petrol bombs and crude bombs at the police vehicle when it reached Matsya Bhaban area around 7:30pm," he said.

Mozammel Hoque said constable Shamim was burned while the others received minor injuries.
